Privacy Policy for Scroll Sensei

Scroll Sensei is a local Android app that helps you monitor your use of selected apps. You choose which apps to monitor and the time limit you want to use. When a selected app appears to be in use for longer than your chosen limit, Scroll Sensei can show a reminder notification.
Scroll Sensei does not require accounts or login. The app has no ads, no analytics, and no in-app purchases.
What the App Does
Scroll Sensei uses Android Usage Access / UsageStatsManager to detect when selected apps are in the foreground. The app tracks the duration of those selected app sessions locally on your device so it can provide time-limit reminders.
When you start monitoring, Scroll Sensei may use notifications and a foreground service to keep user-initiated monitoring active and visible.
Information the App Accesses
Scroll Sensei may access:
- The list of apps you choose to monitor.
- App usage information available through Android Usage Access / UsageStatsManager, including whether a selected app is in the foreground.
- The approximate duration of a selected app session.
- Your chosen time limit and notification preferences.
Scroll Sensei does not read the content inside other apps. It does not read your messages, photos, files, browsing content, or typed text.
How the Information Is Used
Scroll Sensei uses this information only to provide its monitoring and reminder features. For example, the app uses selected app usage information to decide when your chosen time limit has been reached and whether to show a notification.
The app does not use this information for advertising, analytics, profiling, or selling data.
Data Sharing
Scroll Sensei does not sell user data.
Scroll Sensei does not send app usage data to a server.
Scroll Sensei does not share app usage data with advertisers, analytics providers, data brokers, or other third parties.
Data Storage
Scroll Sensei handles your selected apps, time limits, and notification preferences locally on your device.
App usage information accessed through Android Usage Access / UsageStatsManager is used locally for monitoring and reminders. Scroll Sensei does not upload app usage information to a remote server.
If you uninstall the app, locally handled app settings and app data are removed according to Android's normal app uninstall behavior.
Notifications
Scroll Sensei uses notifications to show monitoring status and time-limit reminders. The app may use a foreground service notification while user-initiated monitoring is active, and it may show reminder notifications when a selected app reaches your chosen time limit.
You can manage notification permissions and notification behavior in Android settings.
Usage Access Permission
Scroll Sensei requires Android Usage Access permission for its core monitoring feature. Usage Access allows the app to check which apps are being used so it can monitor only the apps you selected and provide time-limit reminders.
You can grant or remove Usage Access permission in Android settings. If you remove Usage Access, Scroll Sensei may not be able to monitor selected apps or provide accurate time-limit reminders.
Children's Privacy
Scroll Sensei is not designed for, directed to, or intended for use by children under 13 years of age, or by children as otherwise defined under applicable law.
The app does not require users to create an account, log in, provide a name, provide an email address, provide a phone number, or submit other direct personal information to use the app.
Scroll Sensei does not knowingly collect, request, use, disclose, sell, or share personal information from children, and does not collect personal information with actual knowledge that the user is a child under 13 years of age. The app's core monitoring features are designed to operate locally on the user's device.
Parents and guardians should not allow children to submit personal information through any support or contact channel. If a parent or guardian believes that a child has provided personal information to us, please contact us at the email address below. If we become aware that we have received personal information from a child, we will take reasonable steps to review the request and delete the information where required or appropriate.
Changes to This Policy
This privacy policy may be updated from time to time. If the policy changes, the updated version will be posted with a new effective date.
